PHILIPPINES GOES TO THE 74TH BERLINALE!
MANILA, PHILIPPINES, FEBRUARY 5, 2024 — PHILIPPINES GOES TO THE 74TH BERLINALE! The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) will lead the Philippine delegation at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival and European Film Market (EFM) which will be held from February 15-21, 2024 in Germany. Filipino film “Huling Palabas” by Ryan Machado is set to compete in the festival’s Generation 14plus section. Screening in the Panorama section is Pham Ngoc Lan’s film “Cu Li Never Cries” which is co-produced by Filipino company Epicmedia Productions, Inc. At the Berlinale Talents, the Philippines will be represented by filmmakers Don Eblahan, Grace Simbulan, Achinette Villamor, and Whammy Alcazaren. Furthermore, Filipina producer Bianca Balbuena will serve as a member of the jury for Berlinale Talents’ Short Form Station. Filipino representatives Cy Igne, Jane Gonzales, and Tim Villanueva will also participate at the Berlinale Co-Production Market’s Visitors Programme to gain further knowledge on international co-productions and expand their networks in the film industry. The Berlinale is one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world, attracting thousands of industry professionals and film enthusiasts from around the globe each year.
